AVAILABILITIES
We currently have relatively immediate booking availabilities for the following exams at these clinic locations.
• Screening mammograms at our Beacon Heights, Castleridge, Mayfair Place and Sunridge clinics
• Bone mineral densitometry (BMD) exams at our Beacon Heights, Coventry Hills, Castleridge, Market Mall, Southcentre and Sunridge clinics. It is highly recommended that patients return to the clinic at which they had a prior BMD exam if applicable.
• Bone scan exams (nuclear medicine) at Castleridge, Mayfair Place, Mahogany Village and Sunpark clinics
• Thyroid scan (nuclear medicine) at our Mayfair Place, Mahogany Village and Sunpark clinics
• General ultrasound exams at Coventry Hills and Market Mall clinics
• Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) and exercise stress test (EST) at our Mayfair Place clinic
• Whole body MRI imaging at our Mayfair Place clinic
ULTRASOUNDS FOR PATIENTS WITH CATHETERS
We have revised our directions for patients with Foley/indwelling catheters having a pelvis, abdomen/pelvis, kidney & bladder, or pelvis/KUB ultrasounds. Patients are advised to clamp the catheter 1.5 hours before the appointment and drink 1 litre of water. The patient should complete drinking all the water 1 hour prior to the appointment and keep the catheter clamped until the exam is complete. Patients will be provided with this direction as part of the booking process. Prep instructions can also be found at physicians.radiology.ca.
BILATERAL BREAST ULTRASOUNDS WITH ADDED MAMMOGRAMS
When presented with a requisition for a bilateral breast ultrasound, our radiologist may also elect to perform a diagnostic mammogram to provide the most ideal imaging for the patient. Also, breast ultrasounds should only be requested for diagnostic needs and not for screening. Current literature continues to endorse mammograms as the gold standard for screening purposes.
MSK AND SPECIAL SPINE PAIN PROCEDURES
Upon receiving a requisition for MSK or specialized spine pain procedures, we will triage the request and then contact the patient to schedule their appointment. Please do not direct patients to contact Mayfair before we have completed this triage process. We will ensure the patient is contacted in a timely manner.
SYNVISC UNAVAILABLE
Synvisc continues to be unavailable nationwide. If your patient’s injection is for Synvisc, they may be able to obtain it from a pharmacy or you can consider requesting an alternative (Durolane, Monovisc, Cingal). We will advise when we have Synvisc back in stock via physicians.radiology.ca.
CPSA REQUIREMENTS FOR REQUISITIONS
Per CPSA regulations, requisitions must include full referrer details – your legible name, or verified electronic signature (if using EMR), practice ID, clinic address, phone, and fax number. We cannot process requisitions or schedule exams without this information. We also require the health care number for the patient and the relevant history for the exam to be included on the requisition. Incomplete information will delay the processing of the requisition and the scheduling of the patient’s exam.
RAYNAUD EXAM PREP
We have added a new prep instruction for patients receiving a Raynaud’s exam. It is important patients ensure their hands and feet are warmed from one hour up to the appointment time using warm gloves or thick socks. This will ensure the exam can be performed in a timely and effective manner.
HOLIDAY HOURS
Over the end-of-the-year holiday season, all Mayfair Diagnostics clinic locations and our Contact Centre will be closed for the following dates.
• Wednesday, December 24, 2025 – half day, closure at noon
• Thursday, December 25, 2025 – closed
• Friday, December 26, 2025 – closed
• Thursday, January 1, 2026 – closed
In addition, our Mayfair Place clinic will be closed on Saturday December 27, and our Market Mall location will be closed on Sunday December 28.
Our South Calgary Health location will remain open 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week for X-ray exams.
All clinics will be open Wednesday December 31 however they will close at 4 p.m.
