Mayfair’s breast imaging services for diagnostic needs include the following.

• We offer diagnostic mammography to help detect, locate, and determine breast issues. We provide low dose 3D mammography to all our patients resulting in a greater level of detail and clearer view of the breast tissue with the same small dose of radiation as the standard mammogram. 3D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis, is 40% more accurate in detecting invasive breast cancers compared to standard mammograms.
• We now offer diagnostic breast ultrasound to see the internal structure of the breast. This exam is often used to investigate pains or lumps or to examine specific areas of concern. It can also be useful in cases of high breast density.

BOOKING INFORMATION

• Our wait times for mammography are minimal at present.
• Patients with implants can have a diagnostic screening exam at our clinic. Patients with implants cannot have a screening exam through the SCA screening program as “special” additional views
  are required.
• At Mayfair, a patient with a clinical concern (e.g. palp lump, focal pain in one breast) over the age of 35, will have a mammogram and an ultrasound. Under the age of 35, the patient will start with an ultrasound and then receive a mammogram if the radiologist indicates it is necessary.
• Please indicate +/- breast ultrasound as required on the mammography requisition.
• A breast ultrasound should not be ordered based on breast density alone. There must be a
  clinical concern.
• To order breast imaging services please fax requisitions directly to Mayfair Regina. The fax number is listed at the top of the requisition (306-569-3337).
